20mph SPEED LIMIT PROPOSED FOR DARLEY ABBEY

20mph SPEED LIMIT PROPOSED FOR DARLEY ABBEY

At the meeting of the Neighbourhood Board Highways and Transport sub-group on 5th September,  an important proposal was made regarding Darley Abbey.  The village was one of three districts in Darley Ward identified as suitable pilot areas for the implementation of a 20mph speed limit.

Derby City Council has delegated responsibility for implementing the proposed 20mph speed limit across all City wards to the relevant Neighbourhood Boards.

Exemptions to the proposed blanket speed limit have yet to be resolved, i.e. trunk roads and major arteries into the City,
However this would not affect the three pilot areas namely Darley Abbey, Chester Green and the Leaper Street area.  Each of these areas can be easily defined as 20 mph areas.  Darley Abbey would only need to be sign-posted at the 4 entrance roads, Church Lane, Mileash Lane, Darley Park Rd (at its junction with Darley Park Drive) and Old Lane (by the bridge).
Darley Abbey Society would like to hear your views on this proposal. Please email me at david_ling@talktalk.net or come along to the Autumn Meeting this Thursday 19th September at 7.30 pm in the village hall.
