Walter Evans School to build new class room block

Walter Evans Church of England Primary School has submitted plans to build a new class room block providing an additional three classrooms, and an extension to the School hall. It is less than two years since the school was last extended to take account of rising pupil numbers. It is now estimated that pupil numbers will rise by about a third to 420 with an additional 8 full time equivalent staff members. The area of the existing buildings on the site is approximately 1557msq, and the new extensions will bring the total to 1904msq. To cater for the additional staff a further four car parking spaces will be provided. Local residents fear that the increased numbers of pupils and staff will exacerbate the already difficult traffic conditions on Darley Abbey Drive. The owners of one neighbouring property whose rear garden has a boundary with the site have lodged an objection to this application. They are concerned because the proposed extension to the School Hall will come close to their boundary and will overlook their garden. For further details of the application contact Sara Booty at the Council's planning department and quote application number 11/13/01328 or visit the Council's website and look for the eplanning  page https://eplanning.derby.gov.uk.

Objections must be lodged by 29th December.
