This advertised charity event is in aid of village hall funds in general but specifically FoDOS share of the proceeds will be used to help fund an ambitious programme of adventure, environmental and performing arts training for local young people. This is being organised with support from Derby City Council,The Barn, local schools and local businesses and will take place during the summer and autumn of 2010. Further details will be published at darley abbey.com as soon as these become available.

Darley Abbey Historical Group meetings
All indoor meetings take place on the third Friday of the month (excluding August) in the Darley Abbey Village Hall starting at 7.30pm, there are usually a couple of visits to places of interest as well, (not necessarily on a Friday).
Membership of the group is open to all and costs £5 per year. Admission to meetings is £1 for members and £2 for visitors, this includes tea/coffee and biscuits.
The programme for the next few months is as follows :-
Friday October 16th John Hawkins presents "Bess of Hardwick"
Friday November 20th Barry Lings presents "Along the Portway"
Friday December 18th Joint meeting with Darley Abbey Gardening Club
January 15th 2010 AGM followed by "Centaurs in the Park" - Derby Central School, presented by Nick Clark
As well as meetings, members undertake research projects and we collect artifacts associated with Darley Abbey.
Available for purchase from the Group are "The Village Cookery Book", a facsimile of recipes originally compiled by the villagers of Darley Abbey in the 1930's, £3.00 per copy, a DVD "From Monks to Mills", a short history of Darley Abbey, £2.50 per copy and full cotton reels, original and labelled with the Evans trade mark, "Boars Head", £2.00 each.
